BNB Chain, in collaboration with DWF Labs and CertiK, is set to host its inaugural Web3 hackathon in South Korea from December 17-19, 2023. This groundbreaking event aims to foster innovation and collaboration within the blockchain development community.
"The primary purpose of this hackathon is to connect talented developers, innovative entrepreneurs, and forward-thinking venture capitalists from across the globe to accelerate blockchain innovation in the Web3 ecosystem," stated Stephen Milton, Head of Marketing at BNB Chain.
Participants in this South Korea crypto hackathon must form teams of at least five members. The competition offers substantial rewards, with the winning team receiving $5,000, while second and third-place teams will be awarded $3,000 and $2,000 respectively. Beyond the prize money, all top three teams will gain exclusive access to BNB Chain's comprehensive developer resources and funding programs.
The event will culminate in a prestigious funding round featuring major investors including Binance Labs, Hashed, Samsung Next, and DWF Labs. During this session, the winning teams will have the opportunity to pitch their innovative blockchain projects directly to these prominent Web3 venture capital firms.
Applications for this transformative blockchain development competition are currently being accepted, offering aspiring developers a chance to showcase their skills and potentially secure funding for their projects.
Recent insights from industry leaders highlight the significance of events like this for the Asian crypto community. In an exclusive interview with CryptoSlate, Erica Kang, founder of KryptoSeoul, and Nicole Nguyen, co-founder of APAC DAO, discussed how regional events can address challenges faced by the Asian blockchain sector.
Both experts acknowledged the immense potential within Asia's cryptocurrency market. However, Kang identified language barriers and time differences as key factors that have historically isolated the Asian community from global blockchain developments.
Paradoxically, this isolation has cultivated exceptional talent within the region. According to Nguyen, Asian blockchain developers have demonstrated remarkable ability to innovate with limited resources and without reliance on centralized entities. "What they can achieve with significantly fewer resources and without depending on centralized parties is truly impressive," she noted.
Kang and Nguyen emphasized that events like the BNB Chain hackathon play a crucial role in bridging the gap between Asian markets and the global blockchain community, showcasing the region's unique talent and fostering international collaboration in the rapidly evolving decentralized technology landscape.
